Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa: An Honest Review

Room conditions are noticeably deteriorating at Westgate Lakes. Many buildings haven’t been renovated in years, resulting in outdated and worn-down accommodations. Expect CRT TVs in bedrooms (living rooms usually have flat screens), old kitchen appliances, cracked floor tiles, dirty grout, and an overall sense of neglect. Even cracked, peeling, and collapsing ceilings have been reported.

Parking is a constant concern. Regardless of the season, if you return after 7-8 PM, finding a spot near your building is a challenge.

Customer service is subpar. Staff often seem disinterested and unresponsive to guest needs. Expect long lines at check-in with unenthusiastic employees.

If you’re not an owner, prepare to be relentlessly pressured into timeshare presentations disguised as “free breakfasts.” Use all your willpower to decline, saying you have Disney plans every morning, then unplug your room phone.

Another major drawback is the renting of rooms to graduating high school groups for post-graduation parties in late April. This results in unruly behavior, public intoxication, large groups of unsupervised teens, and the pervasive smell of marijuana.

Security is a serious concern. The lack of security cameras or indifferent security personnel makes addressing safety issues difficult. Even when incidents occur, contacting security and receiving timely assistance is a challenge.

Adding insult to injury is the lack of follow-up from Westgate management after incidents. No calls, emails, or letters are sent to address concerns or ensure guest satisfaction.

In conclusion, Westgate Lakes Resort & Spa has much to improve upon to live up to its resort name. From room conditions and customer service to security concerns and incident handling, everything needs a serious overhaul to provide a better guest experience. Westgate’s unprofessionalism and indifference have resulted in the loss of a potential customer and contributed to negative brand perception.
