Mountain High Resort endured a harrowing night as the Bridge Fire swept through a portion of the area. As of 11:00 AM, reports indicate that facilities at all three resorts (East, West, and North) remain intact. Los Angeles County Fire Station 130, stationed at the West Resort, is credited with playing a significant role in protecting the property. The Captain of Fire Station 130 also confirmed that the East Resort’s top building and restaurant survived the blaze.

“We are incredibly grateful for the swift and courageous actions of the Los Angeles County Fire Department, District 5, and all the first responders who worked tirelessly to protect our resort and community,” said John McColly, Vice President of Sales & Marketing, California Mountain Resort Co. “Our hearts go out to all those impacted by the Bridge Fire and the other fires raging throughout the State. We are committed to supporting our community and plan to emerge from this tragedy stronger than ever.”

The resort is still assessing the situation but anticipates opening on schedule for the upcoming season. An official opening date has not yet been set. The opening is weather dependent but could be any time after November 1st.

This remains an active fire and the situation is subject to change. Mountain High continues to work closely with Unified Command, including CAL FIRE, Los Angeles County Fire, and San Bernardino County Fire among other agencies. The safety of employees, guests, and the surrounding community remains the top priority.

Evacuation orders remain in place for several areas, including along Highway 138, Lone Pine Canyon, and neighboring communities. Road closures are also in effect on major thoroughfares such as SR-138, SR-2, and Big Pines Highway. Weather is forecast to be more favorable for firefighting efforts with increasing humidity and onshore winds.

Activities at Mountain High, including camping and the Oktoberfest event, have been canceled. The North Lodge is also temporarily closed. Fire crews are working diligently to contain the fire and protect residential areas.

The Mountain High Resort Fire situation remains fluid. The resort advises everyone to monitor the latest announcements from official sources.

While the damage caused by the fire is significant, Mountain High remains hopeful for a reopening this winter. The resilience of the resort and the local community provides great strength in overcoming this challenge.
